According to the reports, several of the energy suppliers in the United Kingdom said, they are going to increase the price of the standard electricity and gas tariffs to the maximum limit, as it is set by the energy regulator of the United Kingdom for the upcoming season.
The price cap of the company Ofgem is going to increase to its highest level since it had been introduced in the year 2019 owing to the increase in the prices of the global gas market, and the energy regulator of the United Kingdom said, for 11 million households of the country, who are paying by direct debit, the energy bills are going to be increased from an average of around 1,138 pounds per year to 1,277 pounds starting from October 2021.
The energy regulator of United Kingdom said, for another 4 million households in the country, who are using the prepayment meters, that are typically more vulnerable socially, for them, the average energy bill is going to be increased from 1,156 pounds per year to 1,309 pounds per year.
The companies including Scottish Power and Eon UK have increased the price of their standard electricity and gas tariffs by 12 percent and the Ovo Energy, the second biggest energy supplier in the United Kingdom is going to increase the price of the company’s standard dual-fuel energy tariff by 12.5 percent, and the largest energy supplier in United Kingdom, British Gas is yet to announce its price increase.
