US DOE Announced $52.5 Million to Speed Up Clean Hydrogen Progress

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has announced $52.5 million for the purpose of funding 31 projects for the purpose of speeding progress if the next-generation clean hydrogen technologies along with providing support to the recently announced Hydrogen Energy Earthshot initiative of DOE for decreasing the cost and accelerating the breakthroughs in the clean hydrogen sector.

The clean hydrogen is basically a form of the renewable energy, which if made easier and cheaper to produce, that can have a large role in the process of supporting the commitment of Joe Biden for tackling the climate crisis.

Jennifer M. Granholm, secretary of energy of United States said, part of their path to a net-zero carbon future means investing in the innovation for making the clean energy sources like hydrogen that more affordable and widely adopted so that, they can be reaching their goal of the overall net-zero emissions by 2050.

She also said, these projects are going to be putting them one step closer for unlocking the scientific advancements, which had been needed for creating a strong domestic supply chain along paying good jobs in the emerging industry hydrogen industry, and the hydrogen has been a clean fuel that, when combined with the oxygen in a fuel cell, that has been producing the electricity by using the water and heat as the by-products.

These 31 projects are mainly going to focus on filling the technical gaps in the storage, production, utilization and distribution of the hydrogen technologies, thereby paving the way towards the process of decarbonization of the electricity industry by 2035.
