UK Government: No End-To-End Encryption for Accounts of Kids on Messaging Apps

The government of the United Kingdom is saying that, there should be no end-to-end encryption for the kids in the country, as on 30th June 2021, the UK Department of Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS) have published a safety guidance, that has been including the suggestion, which latter should be responsible in preventing the use of the end-to-end encryption safety tool in the accounts of the children on the messaging apps.

As this has merely been a guidance for now, the plans are real because the legislation has now been already on the table, and the Online Safety Bill of the United Kingdom, which was published in May 2021, along with the government of United Kingdom for setting out a plan for forcing the online messaging or tech platforms for regulating the content generated by the user by imposing a legal duty for protecting the users from the illegal or harmful content.

The Online Safety Bill has been integrating the requirements for the purpose of reporting all the illegal contents online, which mainly includes the sexual exploitation of the children content to the law enforcement, which is responsible in forcing the platforms for taking the action against different variety of much harder to define harmful content, starting from the cyber bullying along with the scams. Although the government of United Kingdom said, it had only been abandoning the adult content measure because the UK government had been planning to bring ahead, the most comprehensive approach, which is possible for the purpose of protecting the children.
