According to a senior executive, Human Horizons, a Chinese manufacturer of luxury electric vehicles (EVs), will launch its premium HiPHi brand later this year in some European markets as the company seeks international expansion.
Mark Stanton, a co-founder, said that the automaker would say which European countries it would join at the April auto show in Shanghai. However, he did say that it would be in a few markets in western Europe or Scandinavia that have a higher penetration of electric vehicles.
Stanton said that they do not want to go out there and overextend themselves and do too much at once. They will test the waters and begin developing their brand after that. He said that HiPhi’s connected electric vehicles with high-tech features will appeal to younger, wealthier, and more tolerant customers who haven’t formed an affiliation with Mercedes or Porsche.
In China, the X SUV and Z sedan manufactured by HiPhi are currently available for purchase. Both models have a range of up to 430 miles (692 kilometers) and start at approximately $90,000 ($620,000). According to Stanton, this year’s sales should be between 4,000 and 5,000 units.
In addition, in April, the business will present a brand-new premium model with a lower price and a higher volume. According to Stanton, facial recognition and projector headlights that can project directions or warnings onto the road in front of you are two of the HiPhi car features.
