Since beginning operations in 1983, Maruti Suzuki India has produced more than 25 million units, a feat that can be described as a breakthrough.
It is interesting to note that the automaker is the only Indian manufacturer to accomplish this feat. Maruti Suzuki has put into operation its second cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana, which joins its first manufacturing facility in Gurugram, Haryana. Together, the two facilities can produce 1.5 million units annually.
In addition, the company has increased its exports over time in accordance with the Make-in-India vision of the Indian government. Maruti Suzuki exports to approximately 100 markets worldwide in addition to providing its Indian customers with a choice of 16 passenger vehicle models.
Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Hisashi Takeuchi, noted that the year 2022 marks the 40th anniversary of Suzuki’s partnership with Indians. This year’s achievement of 25 million cumulative production milestones is evidence of Suzuki’s ongoing partnership and commitment to the Indian people.
He added that, he would like to take this opportunity to express his gratitude to all of Maruti Suzuki’s employees, as well as their vendor and dealer partners. Maruti Suzuki has been able to realize the dreams of millions of people to own a car because of their dedication and support, he added.
The company intends to begin with a manufacturing capacity of 2.5 lakh vehicles annually by 2025 at its new Kharkhoda plant, which will require an investment of INR 1,100 crore in the first phase.
Additionally, the company mentioned that the location will have room for capacity expansion to accommodate additional manufacturing plants. Maruti Suzuki received 800 acres as part of the deal, while the two-wheeler manufacturer received the remaining 100 acres.
