Argentina, the first tournament’s champion in 1950 and 2002 runners-up, lost to the Dominican Republic in their final Americas qualifying event match at home.
Facundo Campazzo, a former member of the National Basketball Association, and Carlos Delfino, a 40-year-old member of the team that won the Olympic gold medal in Athens in 2004, were notable athletes from Argentina.
They only managed eight wins and four losses, which meant that they were just a point behind Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Brazil, all of whom had the same record.

Numi Omot was a big part of South Sudan’s crucial victory over Senegal, which they won 83-75. They became the second African team to qualify as a result, following the Ivory Coast.
Numi Omot scored a team-high 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and provided four assists while making 50% of his shots from the floor.
