Mahindra Launches its Formula E Gen 3 Race Car in India

Mahindra unveiled its Gen3 Formula E race car at the current season 9 of the Formula E Championship, the first all-electric street racing series in the world. The Gen3 car’s livery was designed in conjunction with the Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (M.A.D.E.) and Mahindra Formula E teams.

Mahindra Racing, which is one of the founding teams and the only Indian team in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, will compete in its first domestic race this Saturday at the Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix in India.

The drivers on the team are seasoned and skilled, including Lucas Di Grassi, who won the FIA Formula E championship from 2016 to 2017 and has won the Macau Grand Prix three times and finished third overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Oliver Rowland is a well-known and well-liked single-seater champion who also won a Formula E race. According to a press release, the British driver, who is 29 years old, joined Mahindra Racing for Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

Jehan Daruvala, a young and accomplished racer who is a protege of the Force India F1 team and has recently joined Mahindra Racing as the reserve driver. Jehan Daruvala was one of three winners of the team’s 2011 one in a Billion hunt. On the Hyderabad Street Circuit, which is situated on the shores of the Hussain Sagar Lake, the Greenko Hyderabad E-Prix will take place.

They get to race in front of a home crowd for the first time, making this a significant occasion, said Dr. Anish Shah, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Group. Dr. Anish Shah added that Mahindra Racing demonstrates their commitment to continue developing cutting-edge EV technologies and improving the next generation of consumer electric vehicles in the country.”

Asha Kharga, Mahindra Racing’s Chairperson, stated, “This is a proud moment for Mahindra Racing as we come home to India for the first time.” Mahindra Racing was one of the founding teams of Formula E. The success of this race will contribute to the rise of Formula E to national prominence. More importantly, it outlines the race technology possibilities that could serve as models for our road cars.

After securing its first victory at the 2017 Berlin E-Prix, Mahindra Racing boasts impressive stats and has won multiple races. It is the only Formula E team to be certified Net Zero Carbon Footprint, demonstrating best practice and excellence in sustainability practices. It was the first team to receive the FIA Environmental Accreditation Three-Star rating.
