Volvo to Launch its first Electric Minivan

The development of Volvo’s first electric minivan was made public. It is anticipated that the automobile will go on sale this year in China, but it is unknown whether it will reach the United States. The new electric Volvo was unveiled by Qin Peiji, president of Volvo Cars Greater China, during a slide presentation that highlighted the company’s electric journey thus far.

The slide showed six existing Volvo EVs, including the XC40 and C40. The Zeekr 009, an all-electric MPV with all-wheel drive, 536 horsepower, and a range of over 500 miles on a single charge, is said to be the model that will serve as the basis for the electric Volvo minivan (MPV). The EX90 and three additional electric vehicles that will be available later this year were also featured in the presentation. The MPV, or minivan, and the small SUV called the EX90 Excellence are two examples of these vehicles.

Using the EV as a starting point will help streamline production since Geely owns Volvo and Zeekr. Despite the fact that the Volvo MPV will be built on the SEA EV platform, Zeekr will give it a distinctive appearance. The production model of the vehicle will go on sale in China in the fourth quarter, while the semi-concept version is expected to go on sale in the third quarter.

The ultra-luxurious Volvo EX90 Excellence will be an EX90 SUV, while the small Volvo SUV will be based on the upcoming Zeekr 003. The large captain seats with two rows and four seats will replace the Excellence’s three rows and seven seats.
