Microsoft May Add Chatbot Technology of OpenAI to Bing, Word

Technology

OpenAI’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot technology is said to be in the works for Microsoft Office applications and tools. The Information reports that Microsoft has discussed incorporating OpenAI’s artificial intelligence technology into Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other applications to generate text using straightforward prompts.

Users will be able to create emails and other AI-generated texts based on prompts by integrating OpenAI’s chatbot into its search engine Bing, Word, and other apps. In the past, Microsoft stated that it intended to incorporate DALL-E 2’s image generation software into Bing.

Microsoft claims that the company is also incorporating DALL-E 2 into its consumer apps and services, beginning with the newly announced Microsoft Designer app and eventually making its way into Microsoft Bing’s Image Creator.

DALL-E 2 was trained on an Azure supercomputer built by Microsoft specifically for OpenAI, according to Microsoft. OpenAI’s GPT-3 natural language models and Codex were also trained on the same Azure supercomputer.

In 2019, OpenAI, backed by Elon Musk, has also received funding from Microsoft. Then, it provided funding totaling one billion dollars. Additionally, the two worked together to develop technologies for supercomputing based on artificial intelligence for Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service.

In December 2022, OpenAI made its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, available for public testing. The chatbot is taught to follow a prompt’s instructions and respond in detail, mimicking a human conversation.
