Lionel Messi Agrees a New Contract with PSG

Sports

Lionel Messi is good to go to keep on playing for Paris Saint Germain (PSG), as he has agreed on a basic level to restore the agreement with one of the world’s most well off clubs, as indicated by BBC. Since Lionel Messi’s PSG contract expires in the summer, there was a speculation that he might return to Barcelona.

After a four-month negotiation, the PSG director of football Luis Campos and Jorge Messi, Lionel Messi’s father, has reached an agreement to extend the contract for one year with the option to extend it for an additional year further.

Messi joined Barcelona when he was 13 years old, scoring 672 goals in 778 games. However, in 2021, the club was unable to honor the contract because of the salary limit in La Liga.

Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona, had previously stated that he would love that Lionel Messi returns to Barcelona, the team for which he has played for 21 years. However, according to the reports, Barcelona has not made the offer to Lionel Messi.

Interestingly, the president of Barccelona had made it clear that he wanted to bring Argentina’s world cup-winning captain back to the Camp Nou, but it is believed that Lionel Messi will stay in France for the upcoming year. It is understood that contract renewal of Messi includes the option to remain with the PSG until 2025, making him Argentina’s leading goal scorer at the FIFA World Cup 2022.
