Partners Group, a leading private markets company, has acquired EdgeCore Digital Infrastructure, an owner, builder, and operator of hyperscale data centers in the United States. Partners Group will invest around 1.2 billion dollars to fund the acquisition and also build existing and future data center sites.
With this investment, Partners Group will acquire existing and under development sites of EdgeCore, and it will fund future acquisitions of the company. The data center contracts are mainly long-term, with customers charged a price based on their contracted power capacity.
The main initiatives of Partners Group include acquisition, site expansion, building future assets in the United States, and expanding sustainability initiatives at the company’s data center campuses.
Partners Group will be working with the experience management team at EdgeCore, which has more than 140 years of combined industry experience, on the company’s transformational value creation plan.
Through the thematic investment approach, Partners Group found increasing demand for data centers in the United States as service providers begin to deploy more capacity to support businesses migrating to cloud technology, says Ed Diffendal, MD, Co-Head Private Infrastructure Americas, Partners Group.
Ed Diffendal added that EdgeCore is a unique next-generation infrastructure investment because of its strong portfolio of data center sites, talented management team, and advanced pipeline of assets in strategically important markets, and they are looking forward to build the platform.
