Masdar Acquires Arlington for Renewable Energy Storage in Europe, UK

Masder, a renewable energy conglomerate, has announced that it has acquired Arlington Energy, a UK-based battery energy storage system (BESS) developer. This acquisition will enable Masder to expand its presence in the United Kingdom and European renewable energy markets, and will also support the net-zero objectives of UK.

Arlington Energy develop, operate, build, and finance flexible energy solutions, and it has taken over 170 megawatts of assets through operation in the past two years. Masdar will also enable the construction, development, financing, and operational management of BESS projects under the on joint platform.

Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi, chief executive officer of Masder, said that with this acquisition they will be able to provide a more flexible and resilient energy resource, and help to accelerate the clean energy transitions of the United Kingdom, and several other European countries. This deal will also support their efforts in expanding offshore wind energy and their renewable portfolio.

Matthew Clare, director and co-founder of Arlington Energy, said that this partnership will create a business with large potential and immediately be capable of delivering at a domestic scale, and in several other markets in the future, as more countries join the UAE and United Kingdom in setting net-zero goals.
