Restaurants and Pubs Hit by 15% Production in UK

Business

Food inflation in the United Kingdom has 15 percent for pubs and restaurants as the cost of purchasing ingredients keeps on increasing. The price of the non-alcoholic drinks and foods supplied to the hospitality industry of the United Kingdom rose again in August 2022, having recorded a double digit inflation every month since February 2022.

Food prices were up by 2 percent to July 2022, with eggs, milk, cheese, fats, and oils increasing sharply. Inflation has affected any rebound in spending at pubs of the United Kingdom following the end of COVID-19 measures.

The FTSE 250 company added that, however, it had avoided a more serious impact from increasing borrowing costs by fixing interest rates on its debts in the first six months of the year.

According to reports, one in 10 companies in the hospitality industry is at risk of collapsing this winter, despite a government program to cap energy costs of the businesses. Shaun Allen, chief executive officer of Prestige Purchasing, said that in the upcoming months, it is likely that they will reach peak of inflation, and then experience some levelling off, before a gradual decrease in 2023.
