Ford to End Sale of Transit Connect Van in the US

Automobile

Ford Motor Co. will stop selling the Transit Connect van in the United States by the end of 2023, and has also dropped plans to build the next model of the vehicle in Mexico. The US sales of the Transit Connect small van have been falling, and last year, Ford said it could face around 1.3 billion dollars in penalties in a long-running dispute over the import duties paid on the vehicles.

The company’s sales were down by 15 percent through July 2022 in the United States, after falling by around 25 percent in 2021. The automobile company will stop importing the van into the United States market by the end of 2023, citing people with knowledge of the decision.

In July 2022, Ford reported better-than-expected net income for the second quarter, and has reaffirmed its annual profit outlook, and also said it is actively looking at how to offset the increasing costs.
