Ford Unveils its Largest Renewable Energy Purchase from DTE Energy

Automobile Power & Energy

DTE Energy and Ford are taking a large step in the fight against climate change, as the automobile company has announced a new clean energy agreement. As part of Ford’s plans to reach carbon neutrality, it announced that it will soon be able to source all of its electricity in the region of Michigan from sources of clean energy.

DTE Energy will add 650 megawatts of solar energy capacity for Ford by 2025, and the purchase will be the biggest in the history of the United States. It was made possible through the MIGreenPower program of DTE Energy.

Once the solar energy panels are installed, they will boost the amount of solar energy in Michigan by around 70 percent. DTE also suggests the project will create 250 temporary, and 10 permanent jobs while benefitting the local economy. DTE has been the biggest renewable energy provider in Michigan, and it plans to expand its clean energy initiatives through the company’s MIGreenPower program.
