The households across the United Kingdom are warned that they can face an annual energy bill in excess of 3,600 pounds this winter. Cornwall Insight, energy consultant said a regular gas and electricity bill in Wales, England, and Scotland can reach 3,615 pounds in the new year, which is more than previous predictions.
In May 2022, the government of the United States announced an energy costs support package worth 400 pounds per household in response to predictions that the energy bill will increase to 2,800 pounds for the average household in October 2022.
Last month, Cornwall Insight predicted that annual energy will typically increase to 3,244 pounds from the month October 2022, and 3,363 pounds from January 2023, but the circumstances have changed significantly since then.
The company said that such kind of a bill is likely to increase 3,358 pounds from October 2022, and 3,615 pounds from January 2023. Craig Lowrey, principal consultant at of Cornwall Insight, said increasing gas prices, and concerns about gas supply from Russia had prompted the increase.
Craig Lowrey said however, as the increase in the forecasts for October 2022 and January 2023 is a concern, it is not only the level, but the duration of the rises that makes all these forecasts more dangerous and devastating.
