Walkers Launched Digital Guide to Navigate Upcoming Regulations

Walkers, the popular PepsiCo brand, has developed a digital guide to help retailers navigate the implications for the savoury snacks category when the HFSS legislation of the United Kingdom come into effect in October 2022. The Savoury snacks such as crisps are an important sales driver in the convenience channel, with a growth of 2.4 percent over the past five years.

Walkers produces over 11 million bags of crisps daily at its factory based in Leicester. The company wants to keep up this output, and has also created the guide to provide advice on how retailers can still increases sales of their savoury snacks. Walkers also aims to drive awareness of the legislation and clear any confusion on the specifics.

The digital guide is available in different languages, and features external links to advice from the ACS and the government. The company is also launching a Walkers Hub on the retail app called Shopt, a dedicated areas where the retailers can access content.

The app is also featuring a generator tool to make a crisp layout for their shelves, by supplying few details regarding their store and shoppers. Through the Walkers Hub, retailers will also have the opportunity to earn rewards. In addition, the company will apply clear labelling to the product cases, with offering guidance to retailers on whether product is non-HFSS or HFSS is, and where to best position the product instore.
