Neoen Wins Contract to Develop Two Solar Energy projects in Ireland

Power & Energy

Neoen had been successful in the provisional results of REES 2 auction of Ireland with two projects for an expected total capacity of 80MWp, including Three Castles Solar in the region of Blessington.

The company is a leading independent producer of exclusively renewable energy and Three Castle Solar has a capacity of 19 MWp, as the other successful project, known as Ballinknockane Solar in the County Limerick, has a capacity of 61 MWp.

The two plants, which are going to be fully owned and operated by Neoen, are now scheduled to be commissioned by the end of 2025, and together they will be generating around 76 GWh a year, which enough to power around 18,000 homes, along with preventing more than 24,400 tonnes of carbon dioxide emission per year.

The success has come just four weeks after the energization of Millvale near Ashford, first solar energy farm of Neoen in Ireland, which had been among the winners of RESS 1 and is the first large-scale solar energy plant of Ireland to be connected to the grid.
