Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd said, it has now acquired the approved generic versions of the certain over-the-counter drugs from the Wockhardt Ltd in the United States. The acquisition by the fully-owned subsidiary company of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc, USA has been including the approved abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) for the famotidine tablets used for treating and preventing the ulcers in the intestine and stomach.
Although, the company has not revealed the financial details and the company ‘Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’ has also acquired the ANDAs of the anti-allergy medicine cetirizine hydrochloride tablets, for the indigestion, acid reflux and heartburn treatment drug known as Lansoprazole capsules USP and also the Olopatadine Hydrochloride Ophthalmic USP for the allergic conjunctivitis and the allergic rhinitis in the United States.
Sanjeev Krishan, president of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Inc. USA said, the over-the-counter market has been an important segment of the portfolio of Glenmark across the world and their acquisition of these ANDAs has been representing the continued expansion of their business into the OTC market in the United States and their commitment for ensuring the patients having the access to the affordable and high quality medicines.
The company ‘Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’ said, the current portfolio of the company consists of 175 products that has been authorized for the distribution in the United States market and 48 ANDAs pending approval with the US FDA.
