EDF Renewables Begin Construction Work At Two Solar Projects In UK

The UK branch of the French energy company EDF Renewables has announced that, the company’s two solar energy projects along with a combined capacity of around 100 megawatt and have now entered the site preparation and construction phase.

The Burwell project in the south-east region of Cambridgeshire and the Porth Wen facility in the region of Anglesey and are now expected for coming online in the fourth quarter of the year 2022. Each solar energy facility is going to have 49.9 megawatt of the capacity and also generating enough clean energy for the purpose of powering 9,500 homes.

Ben Fawcett, head of EDF Renewable UK Solar said, at a time while tackling the climate change and energy security have been at the forefront of all their minds and the EDF Renewables UK has been pleased for having made good progress at these two sites of the company.

He also said that, both the projects are going to be capable of generating around 100 megawatt of the renewable energy every year and the sites are getting plenty much of sunshine and are more near to the grid connection along with making them some excellent locations for the solar energy.

Both the consented solar energy projects had been added to the solar energy portfolio of the EDF Renewables UK in the month of March 2022 and since then, the company has also carried out the ecological and environmental pre-construction surveys at the two solar energy farms.
