The sales of the new battery electric vehicles in the United Kingdom has been increased dramatically in the first quarter of 2022 but according to the reports, the second hand electric vehicles are also being sold in the increased numbers. According to the new figures that are published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) of the United Kingdom, the sales of the second hand electric vehicles have been doubled over the same quarter of a year previously.

The SMMT also noted the sales of used cars during the first quarter of 2022 and this has been followed by two consecutive quarters of the decline. Mike Hawes, chief executive of SMMT said, this has been surprising given the United Kingdom in the midst of the novel corona virus lockdown during the first three months of 2021.

He said, the growth of 5.1 percent over that particular period has been a welcome news for the industry and is of greater importance, although it had been the number of electric vehicles that are starting to filter through the second owners of the cars.
