The company ‘Stellantis’ is going to be acquiring the Share Now, which is a car sharing company that has been formed by BMW AG and Mercedes-Benz AG, which has been the latest shakeup in the industry as the automobile company has been struggling to make the mobility services more profitable.
The mobility brand Free2Move of Stellantis does not reveal a price for the purpose of purchasing the service, which has been around 3.4 million customers in the 16 cities across the continent of Europe and this move has been aiming at boosting the new streams of the revenue as the automobile company has been shifting to the electric vehicles.
The sales figures has been marking another step in the process of reshaping the mobility offerings for BMW and Mercedes, which has now combined their respective services in the year 2018 for the purpose of taking on the providers such as Uber technologies and also saving the costs. The decision of the automobile companies of Germany for ditching the car-sharing service has been underscoring the challenges faced in making such kind of offerings that are profitable without the requisite scale.
The company ‘Stellantis’, without the broad presence of the company in the region of North America through the brands including Jeep and Chrysler can possibly have better chances for the car-sharing success and it is gradually going to be replacing BMW and Mercedes Benz vehicles in the fleet of the company along with the models from the Stellantis brands.
