On Thursday, 28th April 2022, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States for the purpose of authorizing the corona virus vaccine for the children between the age group of 6 months to 5 years. The covid-19 vaccine had been around 51 percent effective against the corona virus infection from the omicron variant in the children under 2 years of age and around 37 percent effective among the kids between 2 years to 5 years.

Dr Paul Burton, chief medical officer of Moderna said, those levels have been similar to the protection of two doses of the vaccine for the adults. The protection, which covid-19 vaccine of Moderna provide against the infections has now declined substantially from the mark of 90 percent effectiveness when the covid-19 vaccine shots has first rolled out, and the omicron variant, which is having more than 30 mutations.

The omicron variant is adept at evading the antibodies that are actually blocking the corona virus from invading the human cells. Although, Dr Paul Burton said, the children, who are under 6 years of age, who have also received two doses of the vaccine should have high levels of protection against this serious disease.
