According to the reports, one in 24 people in the United Kingdom had been infected by the novel corona virus that has been causing increase in the rates of the admissions in the hospitals in the country. According to the figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), based on the swab tests from the selected households, that are responsible for revealing an estimate of 2,073,900 people in the United Kingdom have been infected by the novel corona virus in the past week, and it is equating to 3.8 percent of the population.
In the region of Scotland, around one in 18 people had corona virus in the recent weeks and the infections are continuing to increase in the prevalence and in the countries including Wales and Northern Ireland, there is one in 13 people had covid-19 respectively, which is ultimately suggesting that, the infection levels have been increasing in all the countries in the United Kingdom.
Professor John Edmunds, epidemiologist at the London School of Tropical Science and Hygiene said, there had likely been a number of factors behind the increase in the corona virus infections, and these are also including the relaxation of the novel corona virus measures like the legal requirement for self-quarantine and also decreasing the shift in the behaviour of the people like the decreased mask wearing and increase in the socialization.
He also said that, he think that, it has been very hard for saying what has been the dominant factors, and it had also been unclear how massive the upcoming covid-19 wave might be.
