General Motors to Test Electric Vehicles For Homes As a Backup Power Source

As the climate change has been driving the conversation about the efficiency of energy, the companies General Motors and Pacific Gas & Electric have been planning for testing the use of the electric vehicles as a backup power source for the homes of North America.

This pilot, that comes as the car companies have been funnelling the money into the electric vehicles that has been aiming for testing the idea of powering the homes by this summer, and this program is going to be taking place in the service of the electric company that is including the northern and central region of California and the company is also aiming the goals of the state of decreasing the emissions of greenhouse gases.

The main aim of the initiative has been bidirectional charging that is going to be allowing the vehicle for the purpose of pulling the power from the grid and also for supplying the power for something else in this case a new home.

Pattie Poppe, chief executive officer of Pacific Gas & Electric said that, not only this has been a large investment for the electric reliability and the resiliency of climate, and it has yet been another advantage of the electric vehicles that have been so important in their collective battle against the climate change.

Mary Barra, chief executive of General Motors said, their teams have also been working for rapidly scaling this pilot along with bringing the bidirectional technology of charging for their customers.
