The automobile company ‘Audi’ has revealed that, the company has approved most of the company’s new V6 diesel engine models for accepting the renewable fuel, and in this case it is the HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil). The company also said that, the sustainable fuel has also been enabling the reductions of the carbon-dioxide of around 70 percent to 95 percent as compared to the diesel based on the fossil fuels as the much higher cetane rating of the fuel is allowing for clean combustion as compared to the fossil diesel.
Matthias Schober, head of the powertrain development for TDI, PHEV, and V-TFSI at Audi said, as the cetane rating of the HVO has been around 30 percent higher, and the combustibility of the engines has been enhanced, and the positive effects of this had particularly been noticeable during the cold beginning.
The HVO fuel has made it from the residual and waste materials, that is also including the residues from the cooking and agriculture oil obtained from the food industry, and through the process of the hydrogenation, these oils can possibly be converted into the aliphatic hydrocarbons along with making them suitable for using them in the vehicle engines.
The company said that, at this very moment, the models will be including A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q8 and Q7 that are produced in the middle of the month of February 2021, and with the new Q5 diesel models has also been set for followed by the early part of March 2022, hence this fuel is not going to be officially compatible with some of the older models of Audi V6.
