Volvo and Ford to Partner with Redwood to EV Battery Recycling in California, US

Volvo Cars and Ford is going to be partnering with Redwood Materials, electric vehicle battery recycling in the region of California, the United States, and these companies is going to be collecting the end-of-life batteries from the hybrid and fully electric vehicle along with developing the processes and recovering materials for use in the new batteries of the electric vehicles.

The company ‘Redwood Materials’ that has been co-founded by the JB Straubel, former executive of Tesla, has now formed a partnership in the year 2021 along with the company ‘Ford’ for the purpose of developing a closed-loop supply chain for the batteries of the electric vehicle for the raw materials to the recycling.

The startup company has also said that, it is going to be working directly with the dismantlers and dealers in the region of California, the United States for the purpose of identifying and recovering the battery pack, and the materials in these battery packs is going to be recovered and recycled at the facilities of the company in the northern region of Nevada.

Redwood Materials also said, it is going to be demonstrating the value of the end-of-life electric vehicle batteries and this also going to steadily improving the economics as the volumes go up, and the aim of the company is to create the most sustainable and effective circular system that chemistry and physics will be allowed for the electric vehicle battery packs for the purpose of re-entering the domestic supply chain.
