EU Introduces Plans For Bolstering Capabilities of Space Traffic Management

The European Union is now introducing a new initiative space traffic management for the purpose of building up the abilities of the European Union in the field as well as working with both the United Nations and the United States.

A joint communication has been launched by the European Commission that has been highlighting the approach of the European Union to the space traffic management, and the European Union is also calling for increasing the abilities of the European Union for the purpose of tracking the objects and also providing help in the development of the international regulations for the safe operations in the space.

Thierry Bretton, commissioner for the internal market in European Union said, they are now intending to propose a European approach for the process of the management of space traffic, along with covering the regulatory and operational needs but also enabling the European Union for continuing to the international cooperation.

Being a part of the proposal in the joint communication is also involving the improvement in the capabilities of the European Union known as the Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) program. This program is also providing the conjunction notices to the satellite operators of the European Union but it has also been relying primarily on the catalog of the space objects in the United States and augmenting with several of the data of Europe.
