Novavax, Covid-19 Vaccine shot 80% effective in Study of Adolescents

The company ‘Novavax Inc.’ said that, the company’s two-dose covid-19 vaccine had been 80 percent effective against the novel corona virus in the late-stage trial testing of the vaccine shots in the teenagers aged between 12 years to 17 years.

The trail of the vaccine has involved 2,247 adolescents and it has taken place between the Month of May 2021 and September 2021 when the Delta variant of the corona virus had been the dominant strain in the United States, and the vaccine had also been 82 percent effective against the Delta variant of the corona virus.

The biotechnology company based in the United States said, it is expecting to submit the applications to the medicine regulators across the globe for the use of vaccine shots during the first quarter of 2022.

In the month of January 2022, Novavax has also filed for the authorization of the vaccine shot in the adult population of the United States, which has been a much-awaited step followed by months of struggles associated with problems related to the development and manufacturing, and the vaccine of the company has also received approval from the World Health Organization (WHO) and European Union.

The vaccine is also cleared for use in the adult people in the countries including New Zealand and United Kingdom. Novavax said, the company does not see any of the incidents of myocarditis in the data of the teens but the company said, it had been keeping a close eye on the inflammatory heart condition and other serious events as the company launch the vaccine for the elder population.
