Chip Shortage Forcing Ford to Pause Production at its 8 North American Plants

On Monday, 7th February 2022, the shares of Ford had been down by around 1 percent after the company has announced that, it is going to be halting or decreasing the production of the vehicles at several of the company’s factories based in North America because of the decrease in the supplies of the computer chips.

The company has announced that it is going to be stopping the production at the company’s plant based in Chicago that responsible for producing Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs, and the assembly plant of Cautitlan of Ford Based in Mexico, that is building the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV is also going to be shut in this week.

Kelli Felker, spokeswoman for Ford said, the global shortage of the semiconductor has been continuing to affect the plants of Ford based in North America, along with the automobile producing companies and several other industries around the world. Some of the production is also being stopped at several other factories of Ford that is also including the production of Ford F-150 at the Kansas City Assembly Plant of the company, and the manufacturing of the Transit vans is going to be continued in the plant although the plant is running on just one shift instead of two.

Last week, the company has also announced the earnings that had been affected by the shortage of the computer chips, and executives of the companies said that, they are now expecting better sales in the year 2022.
