The medicines regulators of the United States has been considering the first novel corona virus vaccine for the children coming under the age group of 5 years, which has been the only age group that is not yet eligible for the covid-19 vaccine shots after the companies Pfizer and BioNTech has started the process of the approvals from the regulatory.
A decision is also expected in the same month, and both the companies also said that, they have also started submitting the data for an emergency use authorization although the companies does not meet a main target in the company’s clinical trial of the children between 2 to 4 years old.
Because of the request from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States, the companies are submitting the data in order for the purpose of addressing an urgent need of the public health in the age group as said by the company.
The arrival of the novel corona virus vaccine for the young children can possibly be helping the parents, who have had to suffer with the closures and quarantines of the daycare centers and the pre-schools.
Janet Woodcock, commissioner of US FDA said that, by having an effective and safe covid-19 vaccine available for the young children in this age group as a priority, and she also said that, the US FDA is going to be asked for the application because of the ongoing increase in the Omicron variant cases.
