EMA: Covid-19 Vaccine of AstraZeneca Linked to Rare Spinal Condition

According to a safety panel of the European Medicines Agency has recommended that, adding a rare spinal inflammation known as the transverse myelitis as a side effect of the novel corona virus vaccine of AstraZeneca.

The corona virus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca have been facing the several setbacks that is also including the delays and probes in the production of the European regulators followed by the rare cases of serious side effects like the blood clots along with the lower number of the platelets, that is leading to the several countries that are stopping the use of the corona virus vaccine of AstraZeneca.

The safety committee of the European Medicines Agency has also reiterated the recommendation of the agency’s similar warning for being included for the single-dose corona virus vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson. The rare transverse myelitis has been characterized by the inflammation of either sides of the spinal cord and it can possibly cause the weakness in the legs or arms of the people, along with the sensory symptoms with the bowel functioning.

After reviewing the data, the committee of the European Medicines Agency has concluded that, a causal relationship between the two corona virus vaccines and the transverse myelitis has at least been a reasonable possibility, although, the agency has also added the profile of the risk benefits of both the corona virus vaccines that remain unchanged.
