The company ‘Daikin America’ has been facing fines of 232,102 dollars that are followed by the deaths of the two workers of the company along with the hospitalizations of another exposure of the people to the toxic chemicals at the plant of the company located in the Decatur region of Alabama of the United States.
The investigation has been made by the Department of Labour Occupational Safety and Head Administration (OSHA) of the United States followed by an incident on 2nd July 2021, the company ‘Daikin America’ had been found to exposes operators of chemicals for the highly toxic fluorocarbon along with the other hazardous chemicals that have been resulted in the workers that are suffering with the respiratory failure.
The exposure of the chemicals has occurred as the workers of the company had been conducting the activities of maintenance requiring a processing line break, along with the atmospheric venting of the equipment which has been responsible for the exposure or release of the highly toxic fluorocarbon and several other harmful chemicals.
OSHA said that, the investigation has revealed that, the company has ‘Daikin America’ has failed for instituting the necessary safe work practices that had been required under the process safety management standard of OSHA and also making sure that, the workers are using appropriate equipment for the personal and respiratory protection while working in the plant.
OSHA said, the company has also failed for performing the air monitoring process for accessing the chemical exposures along with providing written procedures.
