Volkswagen to Increase Charging Speed of its 77kWh ID Models

The automobile company ‘Volkswagen’ is going to be increasing the maximum charging rates for the company’s ID electric cars that have been fitted with the company’s largest battery of 77kWh as a part of a series of the software updates that is also going to allow fir the vehicle-to-grid charging.

The update, which is going to be issued to the existing ID cars is going to be increasing the fastest charging rate for the models including ID 4, ID 3 and ID 5, which are having a 77kWh battery ranging from the 125kWh to 135kWh, and it is also going to be offered to the other car models of the Volkswagen Group that are built on the MEB electric platform like the other versions of the companies.

Volkswagen has been claiming that, the company is going to be decreasing the time taken for charging from 5 percent to 80 percent by around 9 minutes, and the 77kWh models of the ID 5 GTX is going to be able for charging at the speeds of around 150kW, and this has been because of the sources of Volkswagen, the batteries for the performance model from the various suppliers.

The software update has also been including a new mode of battery care that is responsible for protecting the health of the battery by limiting the upper charge level to 80 percent, and the company has also confirmed that, it is going to be offering the bidirectional services of charging to the owners of the Volkswagen’s ID models with the batteries of 77kWh.
