Engie North America Completes its 2.3 GW Renewable Energy Portfolio

The company ‘Engie North America’ has announced that, the company has officially completed the portfolio of 2.3 GW of the wind energy and the utility-scale solar energy projects, which the company has been jointly owning along with the Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital.

The whole portfolio has been comprised of 13 renewable energy project in around 15 counties in 5 states of the United States including the 1.8 GW of the onshore wind energy and 0.5 GW of the utility-scale solar energy projects. The energy portfolio has been estimated for producing enough renewable energy on the grid for the purpose of powering the equivalent of more than 500,000 homes in the United States and each of the project had been constructed between the end of year 2019 and second half of 2021.

Both the companies have targeted, what they are deemed for being the main markets in the United States for the portfolio, which has also been including the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, PJM Interconnection, the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, US.

The project had been financed by using the 2 billion dollars in the commitments of tax equity including the 1.6 billion dollar in the tax equity, which Engie had been able to secure in the month of April 2020.

The entry of Hannon Armstrong in the energy portfolio had been announced in the month of July 2020, when the company has taken an immediate ownership of 49 percent of the already commissioned wind energy project of 663 MW.
