Mercedes-Benz has now become the first automobile company for meeting all the legal requirements of the UN-R157 for a system of Level 3 in the world, and the KBA (Federal Motor Transport Authority) of Germany has given the system authorization for this based on the technical approval regulation known as UN-R157, along with paving the way for offering such system on international level.
The first customers of the system are going to be able to purchase an S-Class with the ‘DRIVE PILOT’ in the first of the year 2022, that is responsible for the customers for driving in the conditionally automated mode at the speed of around 60 kilometres per hour in the heavy traffic in Germany.
This special ‘DRIVE PILOT’ equipment is responsible for taking the strain off the driver and it also allows the driver for performing the ancillary tasks on the central display like the online shopping along with the processing emails in the office built inside the care, and the system approval has also been applied to the EQS.
Markus Schafer, board of management member of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz, CTO for development and purchasing said, for several years, they have been working for the purpose of realizing their vision of the automated driving, and with this system, they have successfully developed an innovative technology for their that had been offering the customers a unique, and luxurious driving experience along with giving them time, and with this approval from the authorities, they have now achieved a breakthrough.
