UK: Kellogg’s to Start Trialling New Paper Lining for its Corn Flakes

Consumer Goods

Aligned to the pledge of Kellogg’s UK, for transitioning 100 percent of the company’s packaging to be reusable, compostable and recyclable material by the end of 2025, the company is going to start trialling a completely recyclable paper liner for the company’s cereals known as Corn Flakes in 2022.

The company has made this strategy in partnership with Tesco, a retail company and it is going to be taking place in limited number of stores across the United Kingdom starting from January 2022. The paper inner is going to be replacing the plastic sack, which has not currently been accepted widely in the kerbside recycling, and if it is successful, then the company will be planning to launch the packaging that will completely be paper based.

The results of the trial are going to be shaping the future plans of packaging of Kellogg’s for the purpose of reaching the 2025 target of the company. This move of Kellogg’s has also been a part of the Wellbeing Manifesto of Kellogg’s, which is launched in May 2021, that has been embracing a decade-long action plan for the purpose of improving the food and packaging of the company, which will be benefiting both the planet and people.
