The company ‘BP’ has been planning a new green hydrogen production plant or facility in the region of north-east United Kingdom that can possibly be responsible for delivering around 500 megawatt of the hydrogen generation by the year 2030.
The facility ‘HyGreen Teesside’ is going to be developed in the multiple stages, along with an initial phase of around 60 MWe that has been aiming to begin the production of green hydrogen by the year 2025, which has been a final decision of the investment on the project, which has been expected in the year 2023.
BP said, it is also going to rely on the power purchase agreements of the renewable energy at first but the company is eventually aiming to plug in the clean power, which the company has been developing in and around the United Kingdom.
The company ‘BP’ is already having a blue hydrogen project in the development on the region of Teesside along with the several other initiatives in the area, which will be creating the high-quality jobs in both the fields of operations and construction, and the projects are also going to be supporting the development of skills, along with local education and the development is also going to catalyse an highly skilled hydrogen supply chain based in the United Kingdom.
Louise Jacobson Plutt, senior vice president for hydrogen and CCUS said, the low carbon hydrogen is going to be very essential in the process of decarbonizing the industrial sectors, which also includes the heavy transport, and together, the H2Teesside and HyGreen can possibly help in transforming the Teesside region into the green heart of the United Kingdom.
