General Motors and Ford to Enter into Chip Development to Provide Help Tackle Shortage

According to the reports, the automobile company ‘Ford’ has announced a partnership with GlobalFoundries Inc., a chip producing company for the purpose of mentioning the plans for advancing the manufacturing of the semiconductor chips and the development of technology with the United States.

Mark Reus, CEO of General Motors said, without giving any kind of the commitments for building any facilities, both the companies said that, they are going to be exploring the expanded opportunities of the semiconductor manufacturing for the purpose of supporting the automobile industry in the United States.

He also said that, his company has been working for the purpose of co-developing the new semiconductor chips along with many partners like TSMC, Qualcomm and several others across the country. Chuck Grey, vice president of vehicle embedded software and controls at Ford said, they are feeling like they can possibly be able to boost their performance of the product, and the company’s technological independence at same time.

The company ‘GlobalFoundries’ has been manufacturing the semiconductor chips for the several other companies like Samsung, AMD and Qualcomm, and the company has also went public in the month of October 2021. After announcing the launch of the all-electric F-150, Jim Farley, CEO of Ford said, the verge, which the company has planned for addressing the shortage of the chips has involved going direct and now they are also seeing what that has been looking like.
