The automobile company ‘Volkswagen’ has been planning to build or construct a new state-of-the-art car manufacturing factory located close to the company’s headquarters based in Wolfsburg, Germany, for the purpose of raising the game of the company as the opening of the gigafactory of Tesla near Berlin is coming closer.
Ralf Brandstaetter, brand chief of Volkswagen said, the factory is going to be producing around 250,000 cars per year and it is going to be less complex than the process of retooling the already existing operations, and a final decision can possible be made in the coming months when the major stake holders of the company review the company’s spending plans of five years.
Volkswagen also said, it has been aiming for a production time of around 10 hours per vehicle for the model of Trinity, which has been similar to how long it is going to be taking Tesla for assembling the Model 3 at the company’s very first European factory in Germany.
Ralf Brandstaetter also said, that has been the reason why they are now planning the construction of the factory, which is going to be efficient and without any kind of the limitations by the already existing structures, and in this way, they are also gaining more time and space for gradually modernizing the main factory in a futuristic way and also increasing the production in the factory to a new level.
Volkswagen does not provide any cost estimate for the construction of the factory, which is still requiring the approval by the supervisory board of the company.
