The Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCO) has now partnered with the company ‘EDP Renewables’ to start working on two new solar energy farms in the region of northwest Indiana that is going to be generating a combined 465 megawatts of power, when they will be coming online in 2022.
These two new solar energy projects for the utility based in Merrillville, which has been a subsidiary of the NiSource, has come as the Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCO) has started aiming to retire all the coal fired generation of the company by 2028, along with generating more electricity from the different sources of the renewable energy.
The Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCO) has been partnering with the company ‘EDP Renewables’ North America for the purpose of building the Indiana Crossroads Solar, which has been a 200-megawatt solar energy farm in the region of White Country, and this solar energy project has been expected to produce around 40 million dollars in the local taxes along with paying one million dollars a year to the owners of the land and in the jobs.
The company ‘NextEra Energy Resources LLC’ is also building the other new solar energy production farm or facility in the region of Jasper County, which is going to be called as Dunn’s Bridge Solar I, and this installation of 265-megawatt is going to be featuring around 900,000 solar energy panels that is going to be generating enough electricity for the purpose of powering 795,000 homes across the region of North America.
