The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has now signed with a total of 127 local governments in the country to a platform that has been allowing them to approve the residential solar energy installation permits in the country. The Solar Automated Permit Processing (SolarAPP+) tool, which is free web-based platform developed by US DOE, has been responsible for automating the rooftop solar permitting for the local government along with the authorities that are having the jurisdictions.
US DOE has also announced a new challenge for the purpose of getting more 60 communities for the purpose of improving the solar energy practices along with getting the recognition through the programme known as SolSmart by the month of March 2022. This initiative has also been providing the selected communities the free technical assistance for the purpose of helping the streamline processes, such as inspection, training, and planning, that are responsible for making it quick and easy for switching to the solar energy.
According to the US DOE, the cost of the solar energy has now decline by 80 percent during the last 10 years and the local governments are also having the tremendous influence in the prospects for the growth of the solar energy. Although, the soft costs such as the red tape, unnecessary paper works, and several other requirements have been increasing the costa along with discouraging the solar energy companies from moving to the area by taking some other steps for the purpose of encouraging the development.
