On Monday, 20th September 2021, the US unit of Honda Motor said, it had been targeting the initial annual sales of the company’s 70,000 planned electric Prologue SUV on the market starting from 2024.
Honda Motor has been planning to add the additional electric vehicle models as it has been aiming to sell a total of 500,000 electric vehicles in the United States of America by the year 2030, along with an ambition of achieving 100 percent zero emission in the region of North America by 2040.
The electric vehicle ‘Prologue’ has now been co-developed with General Motors and the car is also based on the Ultium platform of the company, which has been a modular platform and battery system, and both the General Motors and Honda have also been co-developing a fully electric Acura-brand SUV vehicle.
The company ‘General Motors’ is going to be assembling the Prologue and the Acura SUV, and both the cars are going to go on sales in the year 2024, but the company ‘Honda Motor’ has not revealed that, which plant of the company is going to build the electric vehicles.
Following the models built by General Motors, the company Honda is also going to be introducing a series of the electrified vehicles through the year 2030, that are based on the e-Architecture, and the development of which the company headed, and it is going to be assembling the electric vehicles at the company’s own plants in the region of North America.
Dave Gardner, executive vice president of national operations at US Honda Motor said, the company is going to initially focus on the sales of Prologue in the region of California and several other states like Florida and Texas.
