GE Gets Approval for New Wind Turbine Blade Plant in UK

The competition for supplying the wind turbines for the offshore wind energy in United Kingdom gained momentum, when the company ‘GE Renewable Energy’ announced that, it has got the approval for the company’s proposed wind turbine production plant in the region of northeast United Kingdom.

With the help of this new approval from the government and local authorities, LM Wind Power, a subsidiary of GE Renewable Energy, is going to be operating and building the facility at the Teesworks freeport, which is a location that is well suited for the purpose of serving the wide offshore wind energy potential of the North Sea.

This new facility is going to be dedicated to the production of the 107-metre-long offshore wind turbine blades of the company, that had been designed specifically for the project Dogger Bank in the North Sea, and when the facility will be completed, the Dogger Bank project is going to be the largest wind energy farm in the world.

Oliver Fontan, president and CEO of LM Wind Power said, they are very happy for receiving this very important approval from the local authorities of the country and they are very thankful for the collaboration between all the parties that were involved including the South Tees Development Corporation and Teesworks.

The company GE Renewable Energy is now intending to start the construction of the blade plant after Siemens Gamesa, have revealed that, it had been investing around 260 million dollars for the purpose of expanding the blade production plant of the company in the United Kingdom.
