Ineos Group, an operator of a major refining and chemicals complex of the United Kingdom, is now looking at hydrogen for decreasing the company’s carbon emissions, and just few months after the announcement of a partnership with the company Hyundai Motors for the purpose of supplying hydrogen to the fuel cell vehicles, Ineos Group has now outlined the plans for investing into the cleaner forms of the fuel across the company’s refining and chemicals site in UK.

The company is also looking at an initial spend of more than 500 million pounds, but the company has to a final investment decision yet, and Tom Crotty, corporate affairs director of Ineos group said, the development of the hydrogen economy is going to be the best chance for the United Kingdom for the purpose of reaching the country’s target for carbon decrease and the company is standing ready to play its part.

He also said, the government of United Kingdom must start to give commitment to the investment as the country is lagging behind Europe. The straight route for reaching the net-zero emissions target is to use the hydrogen that has been produced by renewable electricity and water, which had been known in the industry as green hydrogen.
