The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued several recall orders for the different types of the food products in the recent days because of the presence of an unauthorised pesticide in the food products, and since the beginning of the month, the FSAI has also issued around five recall orders because of the presence of the chemical ‘ethylene oxide’.
The ethylene oxide has not been permitted for use in the foods that are sold in the European Union, but it has also been approved for use on some countries outside of the European Union, even though the consumptions of such contaminated foods does not pose any kind of serious health risks.
But, there has been some risk when these contaminated foods are consumed frequently, and due to this reason, the FSAI said, the consumption of the ethylene oxide should be minimised.
On Friday, 13th August 2021, the FSAI has also recalled several batches of the Carte D’or Strawberry Ice Cream, that has been originated from the United Kingdom, and these pesticides had been found in the food additive known as locust bean gum, which has been a stabilizing and thickening agent.
The FSAI have also issued a recall order that had been issued for the batches of the Seven Seas Omega-3 and also a 30-day immunity duo pack due to the presence of the 2-chloroethanol, which has been a reaction product of the ethylene oxide, and this order has also been issued by the P&G of United Kingdom.
