Children Hospitalized in US with Covid-19 Hits Record Number

The number of children hospitalized due to the novel corona virus has hit a record-high in the United States, that has been continuing to grapple with the rapidly spreading Delta variant of the novel corona virus, particularly in the areas which have the low vaccination rates.

On Saturday, 14^th August 2021, according to the data form the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) of US, the paediatric hospitalisations in the United States have hit 1,902 mark, that is accounting for around 2.4 percent of the total hospitalizations related to the novel corona virus.

Sally Goza, ex-president of the American Academy of Paediatrics said, this is not the corona virus of 2020, and this variant has been the worse and their children are the ones, which are going to be affected by the Delta covid-19 variant the most, and for weeks, the country’s top infectious disease experts and health officials have urged the country for getting vaccinated for the purpose of stemming an increasing wave of the covid-19 infections, along with the hospitalizations and deaths.

The children, who are below the age of 12 years are not eligible for receiving the novel corona virus vaccine, that has left the children more vulnerable to the infection from the Delta covid-19 variant.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical advisor of Joe Biden has described the current covid-19 wave as an outbreak of the unvaccinated people as around 50 percent if the people in the country are considered as completely vaccinated and 59 percent of the people have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
