The automobile giant General Motors is once again recalling around 70,000 ‘Chevrolet Bolt’ electric vehicles because of the risk that the battery of the electric vehicles will be catching fire, when the car is being parked, and the company is not having any solution for the problem, which has been tied to around nine fires across the United States in 2020.
Dan Flores, spokesperson for General Motors said, the new and fixed electric vehicles are also going to involve the replacement of the battery modules. The federal safety regulators and General Motors are also going to be providing the steps, which the owners of Chevrolet Bolt should be taking before their cars, that can possibly be repaired, and these also includes not parking the car in a garage and another structure like a home or building because of the risk of spreading the fire.
As the number of the cars are relatively less for the recall purpose, the action of General Motors has been significant given on how pivotal the Chevrolet Bolt is going to be based on the efforts for shifting the cars from the cars and trucks powered by gasoline to the all-electric future.
The Chevrolet Bolt is the only electric vehicle, which has been currently sold by General Motors in the region of North America, even though the company has several other electric vehicles, which it sells across other countries including China. The sales of Chevrolet Bold in the United States have been rapidly increasing, along with an increase of 142 percent in the first half of 2021 as compared to the same period of 2020.
