UK Review: Chemicals Found in Household Products Could Increase Risk of Asthma

Chemicals

According to a review in United Kingdom, the most commonly used household products in the country should carry a warning that, the chemicals present in the products could possibly increase the risk of asthma.

A new research, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund, has found that, a group of chemical has been found in different range of the products in the homes of the people across the continent that could possibly increase the risk of getting asthma, and then researchers have concluded that, the labelling of the products should be reflecting the risk of the harmful chemicals and also warning the people for ventilating their homes while using the products.

The research has reviewed 12 studies into the VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), that are emitted in the form of gases from several liquids or solids, and the VOCs are also emitted by a different range of the products, that includes paints, wax, vanishes, cleaning, cosmetics, and several disinfecting products.

The research has also been providing the collective evidence that shows, for the adults, the composition of many Volatile Organic Compounds have been found in the household products, which are responsible in increasing the risk of asthma, and these compounds and particles may be varying by household, that is mainly caused by the factors like the leakages in the fabric of the building along with the ventilation and heating systems, smoking, damping, aerosols and also the cleaning products.
