UK Car Industry Can Lose 90,000 Jobs Without EV Production Plants

The industry body said, the car industry of the United Kingdom is going to lose around 90,000 jobs in the car producing industry unless the government of UK is increasing support to produce electric vehicles to the levels of United States and Germany.

The industry leaders have been accusing the government of UK for being long on the words and short on taking action for providing help to the build capacity for electric vehicles in the United Kingdom, along with supporting the industry and also reaching the targets of climate emergency.

According to the reports, more incentives are needed for the multinational companies for building the factories for electric battery in the United Kingdom, but the country also need grants for the consumers for purchasing the vehicles and around 2.3 million points across United Kingdom by the end of the decade.

Mike Hawes, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders of UK said, United Kingdom is still falling behind the competition, and now they must build back better than their competitors and will have to match the word with deeds.

Mike Hawes also said, United Kingdom had been home to one of the largest commercial vehicle and car producing bases in the world, but the support on the demand and supply side of the consumers have failed for matching with the United States and Europe.

Michael Straughan, CEO of Aston Martin said, every day that goes by where, they are not investing in the capability of battery production, where they are losing their capability.
